Along with the release of Issue 6, we also had a Launch Party just 2 days prior. The turn out was AMAZING and there’s quite a few people I would like to thank.

First off, a big thank you to our wonderful host Imagine Coffee. They provide Corvallis with such a vibrant and creative space for all of us to enjoy and offer it for events such as ours. The night before the show, they were up with us helping to hang artwork until almost midnight!

Thank you to all of the artists and the contributors, not just for this issue, but ever. You guys are the reason this zine can even exist in the first place.

Thank you to all of you performers who came up on stage a shared a piece of yourself that night.

Thank you Kristin (Kristin Hayes Photography) for providing images from the evening and doing the photobooth! It looked like everyone was having a blast with it.

Thank you Rachel Urista for doing the Live Painting, the crowd loved watching you work…I love that there was paint all over you, in you hair on your face and hands…a true artist!

Thank you Sarah Taylor, for coming up on stage for the figure drawing portion! I wish more people got into the drawing, but I thank you for coming out and hope you had a great time!

Thank you to Mike from The Drawing Board for contributing materials for several giant collaborative pieces! People went all out, I can’t wait to show you.

Thank you to The Corvallis Advocate for all the fantastic coverage that you gave Midnight Muse, both in the past and in preparation for this event!

Thank you to EVERYONE who came out…the place was packed, how the heck did that happen?! You guys made my week!

Thank you to all my friends who came out to support me, yall have no idea how much it meant to me to see so many friendly faces =]

And of course…thank you, my love, Daniel Page. You helped me load and unload the car with every little thing I just HAD to have for the show, took care of all the music, and helped people throughout the show while I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. You gave me support and encouraged me when I was unsure and nervous. You’re amazing <3

I’m REAAALLLLYYY excited for Issue 6 because I have been planning a huge event for awhile now, and hopefully this is the Issue that my dream will come to fruition.  There are some deets in the making and knots to close, but if we go through with this we will be having a huge launch party. It will be similar to the awesome launch we had for Issue 3, hosted by The Drawing Board in Corvallis, with an artist reception and walking body art and a reveal of the latest issue at midnight…but on top of all that goodness there will be performance artists on stage throughout the evening and an extended show for the visual artists. If we get any submissions from fashion or jewelry designers, I would love to create a time slot for a mini fashion show. It will be a HUGE party. That’s why this time, I really encourage all you performance artists out there to submit…we’ve had a few in the past but I would love some more!

Dancers, musicians, thespians, comedians, what have you, JOIN US for Issue 6! And if you know someone, SHARE THIS LINK with them.

But remember, nothing is currently finite. Other than this: regardless, Issue 6 will be bomb. And YOU guys will make it so. (zing!)

You can also purchase a print copy there if you so choose. Normally, we have a copy on Issuu.com that is embed-able  however I have been having ALOT of issues with them lately. Instead, I have decided to put everything into one place: MagCloud. They have optimized their online reader by leaps and bounds over the last year and I think it will lessen the confusion. So from now on, you can find everything on our MagCloud.

Since we are celebrating our 1 year anniversary today, we thought we’d do something a little special with this issue. Instead of 1 featured artist, we made everyone a featured artist. So everyone has their own 2 page spread with several images and more info about them. Yay!

Issue 6 is going to be HUGE so get ready for the submission period in two weeks. We are throwing a massive party filled with dancing, singing, comedy, and of course walls and walls plastered in artwork.

Thank you to everyone who submitted and contributed, this one turned out to be jam packed with some pretty awesome stuff. I tried a lot of new things this round and hope you like it!

Unfortunately, there were a few amazing artist submissions we recieved but we were unable to include them due to image size issues. Check out all of the submissions here!

Now, normally we wait a few weeks before opening up the submission period. But since this issue came out 1 month later than originally anticipated, I’ve decided to open up the submissions NOW until December 14th to get us back on track for a January release. So…after you dive into Issue 4 and absorb the tasty treats within MAKE SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL. And then show it to me. Because I really want to see it. Really!

Issue 4 has been rescheduled to launch 11/15 instead. For a few reasons:

• Several artists and contributors were unable to make the deadline…their work is amazing, and I want to give them every chance to get it in. What we already have ready to go is phenomenal–  but we want to give you variety and pack every issue until it’s just brimming with color and inspiration.
• As far as the organization and development of the zine, this is a one (wo)man show! Finding so many last minute replacements was too mind boggling (trust me, I tried) but sometimes you just gotta know when to step back and re-access the situation. Hey, I’m not going anywhere. Promise! But in order to ensure rocks like nothing else and promotes as many incredible artist as possible,( as well as maintain a level  of sanity!! ) this is the obvious choice.
• I am working on increasing the staff from 1 to uhhh….+1! I’ve got my eyes on a couple talented individuals I think can really add to the awesomeness that is Midnight Muse. And hey, if YOU’RE interested you gotta let me know. The more the…Muse-ier!

Now now, it’s okay! *hugs* Just sit tight, and Issue 4 will be here before you know it. <3 You guys all rock, thank you for your excitement and support, and for your understanding.

Because of the outstanding support we’ve received from all you crazy cats, we have the privilege to bringing you Issue 4, which is set to launch October 15th. If you weren’t selected for the last issue, don’t be discouraged…please submit again! We received hundreds of submissions last period and only have enough room for so much…so take comfort in the fact that we love showcasing diversity and don’t want to showcase the same stuff we’ve shown before.

We are also re-opening the Challenges section this issue and will announce what your challenges will be August 8th and August 23rd. This is a separate submission process so you’ll have 2 chances to submit!

For the first time ever, we got to reveal Midnight Muse in front of a (huge) audience accompanied with our very own launch party! It was amazing, and thank you to everyone who made it all possible. Way more people came than I could have ever imagined and it was just an incredible success. Thanks to Mike from the Drawing Board for hosting, Kaylie for letting me paint on her half naked body in front of everyone to see, all you artists and contributors who actually made up the issue, and to The Corvallis Advocate for their continued support and help in promoting us and our launch!

Unfortunately, we don’t have much documentation from the night…this is the only image we have from the night, courtesy of my husband—and looking at the settings now, this was shot at 100ISO f/5  .4sec HA silly boy! So yes, it is incredibly blurry. If you have any pictures from the night, please share them with us!
